The Cannes Film Festival celebrated its 60th anniversary on wednesday with an opening movie Wong Kar-wai’s New York-California road trip tale starring Jude Law and Norah Jones.The 11 day festival strives for the right mix of art house films and star power,and My Blueberry Nights’ has both.
Other filmmakers showing movies for the anniversary addition are Michael Moore,Quentin Tarantino and the Coen brothers.
Cannes was founded in 1939 as an alternative to the Venice Film Festival in Mussulini’s Italy,but the festival was cancelled because World War 11 broke out.
The festival is looking back at its glamorous history this year with a photo exhibit on the beach.
The main competition involves 22 films from countries,including Israel,South Korea and Mexico,as well as movies from directors who have already been crowned with Cannes’ top prize,the palme d’Or:Tarantino’s gory Death Proof ,the Coens’ Rio Grande Thriller No Country for Old Men,Gus Van Sant’s Paranoid Park and Kusturica’s Promise Me This.

Shootout At Lokhandwala

While actions flicks are not my cup of tea, Shoot Out At Lokhandwala looks quite gripping as its based on Mumbai’s Top Cop Aftab Ahmad Khan’s encounter with five members of Dawood Ibrahim’s underworld gang.
Because of its big starcast and also it is based on true story of 1992 encounter case ,Shootout At Lokhandwala is the most awaited movie now.The film is releasing on 25 May,2007.In the movie Vivek Oberoi is playing a role of a gangster Maya Dolas and the Sanjay Dutt is playing role of ACP Aftab Ahmad Khan and the film is directed by Apoorva Lakhia.
In 1992, this case of encounter was in controversy for many days because sources said that the encounter was planned by Dawood himself.
The film is starring Sanjay Dutt,Amitabh Bachchan,Suniel Shetty,Vivek Oberoi,Tushar Kapoor,Arbaaz Khan,Sammir Dattani and Shabbir and the music is given by two bands,one indian band Euphoria and one pakistani band Strings.

UV ray exposure peaks in the morning:

The human eye is exposed to the largest amount of harmful ultravoilet light on any one day at around 9 am according to the recent joint research by Johnson & Johnson KK and Kanazawa Medical University. The research team examined the amount of UV light to which the sensor in the eyes of a dummy was exposed for one day in each of September and November. According to the September results,the amount peaked at 0.05 volt at between 2 pm and 3 pm.The figures were higher than 0.025 volt between 11 am and 1 pm,the hours during which te sun is usually considered the strongest.
